Things That Need to Be Checked During Home Inspection

We have previously mentioned that the home inspection is a significant part of the home buying process. Of course, it’s not compulsory, but most home buyers insist on having a satisfactory home inspection in order to help them reach a proper decision regarding the home that is for sale.

Once you hire a home inspector, you need to remember that your job is not done and as a home buyer, your task is to look carefully for a few things during the process.

Here’s what you need to pay attention to:

As you know, the drainage system can cause huge problems. If the grade sloping is leaned more to one side than the other, it can lead to damp crawlspaces and flooded basements. If the water gets inside the foundation, it can lead to severe damage of the structure that will be very expensive to repair. Roofing is also important. Inspect the current conditions of the roof and look for leaking in the attic. Find out if and when the roof has been replaced or if it needs to be replaced. Bear in mind that a roof replacement can be very expensive.

Another thing that needs to be inspected is the plumbing. We have all been dealing with broken pipes and we only need to learn that maintenance is key. Your home inspector will certainly double check the piping and determine whether it needs replacement. Drains, vents also need to be checked.
