Nottawasaga OPP Counstable to Be Awarded

The Ontario Association of Police Services Boards has recognized Const. Dale Smith, a Nottawasaga OPP officer for his dedication to the community.

Dale Smith is an officer with the detachment since 2006, has been selected to receive the association’s Zone 3 Community Service Award.

The purpose of the OAPSB Zone 3 Community Service Award is to celebrate and recognize police officers in Zone 3 jurisdictions who are actively involved in the community they regulate.

Dale Smith has been mentoring local youngsters in a variety of roles during the last 5 years.

He has also served as the highschool resource officer at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Secondary School in Tottenham and the Banting Memorial in Alliston. He has also worked as a primary liasion officer for youth diversion and youth restorative justice programs.

Currently, Smith is in charge of the detachment’s bicycle patrol unit which has been fighting to reduce minor property crime and mischief during the summer period in Angus, Alliston, Everett and Tottenham.

Besides this, he has been working as a basketball coach for 19 years.

The award will be given out to Smith on Wednesday, February 19th in Alliston.
