Getting Horses Closer to Seniors

Saskia Bremmers from Tottenham has been riding horses since she was six. Today, she is running the Harmony Ranch on the 2nd Line of New Tecumseth, just east of the 10th Sideroad.

Now, she is focusing on the new riding arena and works on putting custom stalls inside the barn, upgrading the fencing and more.

After relocating the ranch, Bremmers decided to introduce another novelty – to refocus her business by downsizing to cater the adults and create a boutique-style ranch where there will only be 20 horses.

Bremmer’s clients are not people who compete at shows, therefore, the area and the atmosphere stays completely laid back. Nevertheless, not competing doesn’t mean that the horses are not getting the highest level of care.

All the horses at the ranch receive full care and devotion, and Bremmer’s also pays attention to choosing the best clients for her horses.

What is also worth mentioning is that Harmony Ranch is hosting a free musical ride for seniors twice a year. The event is organized by Bremmer’s clients and it’s always a successful event.

The event was first organized a few years ago and its purpose was to brighten up the lives of seniors after her dad was placed into a long-term care facility.

The next ride at her ranch is scheduled for this fall. At the past events, the most regular guests were seniors from Simcoe Manor in Beeton along with residents from care homes in York Region.

During the event, seniors are taken to the riding area to get a chance to interact with the horses.
