Alliston Nursery Founder John Somerville Awarded Again

John Somerville, the founder of Somerville Nurseries once again received a prestigious award for his achievement.

At the Riverwood Retirement Home in Alliston, Mr. Somerville was given the Ontario Professional Foresters Association Honoured Professional award for 2013.

The award is given every year to an individual who have made a significant contribution to the Ontario Professional Foresters Association (OPFA) or to forestry in general in Ontario.

Lately, Mr. Somerville has turned the public attention to himself because of the legacy he has left throughout his career in tree business and the Everett-based nursery which was founded about 60 years ago.

Last year, Mr. Somerville received five accolades, including plaques and a service pin from different organizations such as the Ontario Forestry Association, the Canadian Institute of Forestry, the County of Simcoe and Trees Ontario.

Mr. Somerville was nominated for the award by his long time friend Doug Drysdale of Drysdale Tree Farms. He considers his friend to be the perfect man for the award.
